Treating seriously ill or injured patients in a trauma center can be lucrative for a hospital. And one will be chosen on April 10th by Sacramento County’s supervisors. Kaiser Permanente wants the nod for level 2 trauma care at their hospital on Bruceville Road. Catholic Healthcare West is competing with Methodist Hospital, less than two miles away. Their applications, in this week, will be judged by the American College of Surgeons, looking for the best service. Patients would come from as far south as Modesto. The UC Davis Medical Center is a level 1 trauma center, and handles the most severe emergencies.
