The California Cities Gang Prevention Network focused on ways to reduce gang violence.

Representing the Sacramento Police Department was Captain Daniel Hahn who head’s the Special Investigations Division. He says one tactic they talked about was establishing something like a “gang czar”.

"A couple of the cities have an overarching youth crime strategy that’s coordinated by a person and a commission that coordinates all the different aspects."

According to figures from the Justice Department, gangs were involved in 56% of all crimes in the Western region of the country in 2005.
