Bob Graswich, known to readers as R.E. Graswich, is the 9th newsroom employee to accept a buyout. A spokesman said last month that 3 percent of the newsroom staff would be offered these voluntary packages. Newsroom staff qualify for two weeks severance for every year served, according to their Guild contract. Graswich began working for the Bee as a high school student 35 years ago. He’s been a metro columnist for the past nine years, and his final column will run Friday. Graswich says he will become a communications consultant to government and business.
