The Army Corps of Engineers Tuesday announced that they chose a Concord-based company to build the bridge. David Killam with the Corps says they picked Kiewit Pacific Company.
"They had the lowest bid and they also have a lot of experience in building bridges like this. In fact, they were involved with building the bridge in Benicia. If people drive by the dam they’ll see trailers being set up. So there’ll be some activity."
The four-lane, 2-mile-long bridge will span across the American River, downstream of Folsom Dam. Killam says it’ll help reduce traffic congestion that has plagued Folsom ever since federal officials closed Folsom Dam Road for security reasons after the September 11th Terror Attacks.
