Sacramento City Council members Tuesday night are expected to give their final approval to renovate the building. Leslie Fritzsche with the city’s Economic Development Department says they’ve been trying to fill the space for the past 5-years.
"And that’s why we were very excited to move it into the dust flying stage."
She says the site is a key location to jump start downtown night life. The $18 million renovation will turn the building into an entertainment center.
"They’ll be a restaurant there by Randy Paragary and the operators of the cabaret will be the California Musical Theater, the same people that run the Music Circus."
If council members approve the plan, construction could start as soon as next month and be completed by the end of 2008.
