The investors include wealthy individuals and Farallon Capital Management in San Francisco … and they’re not disclosing the price paid. Experts estimate it’s about $90 million. The investors say they’ll meet with community leaders about the possibilities for this land, formerly the Howard Ranch, near Ione and just across the Sacramento County line. A county official says the county’s general plan doesn’t currently include housing there. It’s currently being updated, however. Some of the land is owned by the descendants of Charles Howard, the auto sales magnate who owned the legendary racehorse, Seabiscuit.
