Developer Jerry Bernau and partners are behind the $20 million dollar Historic Folsom Station, on what’s locally known as the railroad block. Their new buildings would retain a neighborhood character and incorporate an existing train depot, which was the end point for the very first passenger train west of the Mississippi, opened in 1856. Redevelopment for the site has taken years. Today it includes offices of the Chamber of Commerce and the end of a light-rail line. But most of the site is a parking lot. City officials would build replacement parking, and a plaza.
