The UC Davis Health System, which includes the Medical Center in Sacramento, turned a profit of nearly 7% for its most recent fiscal year, ending in June. Its net income of nearly $60 million was up a third from the year prior … and it’s the highest profit percentage of any of the major health systems in the Sacramento area. All are non-profits. Increased demand for healthcare services was a factor. So was a management effort involving the flow of patients, and the negotiated contracts with health plans certainly came into play. A UC spokesman says the extra money is needed for its construction projects.
