Earlier this year, thieves made off with several million dollars worth of nuts from Central Valley orchards. Now police think they’ve found much of them in a North Sacramento warehouse.
"We believe we have made a pretty good break in this case and hopefully we got the ringleaders."
Deputy Royjindar Singh with the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department says thanks to a tip, not only did they find the nuts, they arrested two suspects.
"We received information from the owner of the warehouse that there was possibly some stolen products in here we contacted Sacramento City Police Department who came out there, found the almonds and detained everybody that was inside the building."
Singh says the two suspects were repackaging the nuts in unmarked boxes and shipping them all over the world. Investigators are still trying to figure out if there are more suspects involved.
All totaled, thieves stole around $4 million worth of nuts from Central Valley farmers this year.
