Earlier this month, Stern told reporters he would be coming to Sacramento in December, to help the Maloof brothers negotiate for a new arena.  That’s after voters in the county overwhelmingly defeated two measures for a publicly financed facility.
Sacramento Mayor Heather Fargo says she’s heard no word from Stern.  She says she plans to call him this week to see if he’s still coming.  When asked at a recent outdoor festival, Fargo said, Stern should have a way to pay for the arena that does NOT involve public financing:

If he doesn’t come with a new source of funding, I’m not really sure what there is to talk about.

Fargo says an assessment of some sort on NBA teams might be one way to raise funds for a new arena.
