The organization that feeds Sacramento’s homeless expects about a thousand people to come and eat - around the same number as last year. Volunteer coordinator Gale Erlandson says they’ll be cooking 200 turkeys and 300 baked pies.
"It’s going to be a beautiful celebration. It’s very festive, very social and friendly. Always a lot of fun. Our guests are very grateful. Everyone has their unique story and there are people struggling so I know they are all very appreciative."
Meals will be served at the Loaves and Fishes dining room on North C Street starting at 11 AM Tuesday. Next week, volunteers will start collecting donations for the Christmas meal.
