Secretary of Education Alan Bersin, and Deputy Chief of Staff and Legislative Affairs Secretary Richard Costigan have both resigned…and analysts say we probably haven’t seen the end of the departures. When asked about the shakeup, Schwarzenegger told reporters it’s par for the course:
“People, after a certain amount of time of working in Sacramento, or in Washington, or at any capitol, they get burned out.”
Schwarzenegger says he understands that people have a need to move on – and praised both Bersin and Costigan for their loyalty and hard work. In a statement, Bersin said he was honored to have served Schwarzenegger. His next stop will be the San Diego regional Airport Authority. Costigan is taking a job at a Sacramento law firm.
