Secretary of State Bruce McPherson eports more than five million absentee ballots have been issued… He says holding on to them is typical behavior.

“As many people that do take out/ask for an absentee ballot at least two-thirds, seventy-five percent don’t vote until the last week…”

But when large numbers are returned to the polls on Election Day, he says processing time—such as checking the signatures-- could mean the outcome of some tight races is delayed... That could include his race—he’s the appointed Republican incumbent running against Democratic state Senator Debra Bowen.  Overall, McPherson has predicted that fifty-five percent of the state’s nearly 16-million voters will cast ballots in the General Election.
