On Monday the large, metropolitan daily newspapers around the country reported eye-catching news about themselves. Their average circulation dipped nearly 3% in just the past six months. Early Tuesday the McClatchy Company released its figures. The Sacramento Bee’s average weekly circulation declined five and a half percent over the same six-month period. 2005 was the first year that the Bee actually experienced a drop in circulation, a slight one. The dailies are also reporting that visitors to their websites continue to show healthy growth, as people look there for the information.
