Business Journal: El Dorado County To Get Folsom Lake Water
An agency in El Dorado County will be getting water supply from Folsom Lake - after a 15 year legal battle.

The El Dorado Irrigation District waited until 1991 to seek a permit for water from Folsom Lake. Its rights to that water dated back to 1927, when dams were being built. But its request for the water – enough to supply more than 17,000 homes – came with one big restriction from the State Water Resources Control Board – no water in the summer. El Dorado challenged that restriction … and just prevailed in court. It can draw the water from Folsom Lake as it wishes. This decision removes an obstacle to future growth in El Dorado Hills, where a drought in 2001 resulted in a temporary emergency.
