Fran Halbakken with the city’s Transportation Department says it’s a blueprint for how to manage the supply, price and restrictions of city-operated parking and includes several recommendations.

"To have less parking demand, one of the ways to do that is to get more people using alternate modes. We’re also looking at lowering some of the rates in the garages and increasing some of the rates on street to get people that are parking for long periods of time parking in the garage instead of on the street."

Right now, the central city has about 100,000 on and off-street parking spaces. The plan is designed to make sure the city has enough parking to meet growing demand.
