Democrat Phil Angelides’ campaign manager Cathy Calfo acknowledges that tape of a meeting last Spring between Governor Schwarzenegger and aides was obtained by campaign staffers and subsequently turned over to an L-A Times reporter.  Now the California Highway Patrol is investigating but Calfo denies that anything illegal was done.

“They’re—I think trying to distort the issue. Make this an issue about some quote unquote hacking when no one hacked!”

The tape in question features a comment by the Governor in which he attributes the temperament of Cubans and Puerto Ricans to quote “part of the black blood in them and part of the Latino blood in them.”
Calfo insists that the tape was obtained by following links on the Governor’s public website.  Governor Schwarzenegger’s campaign manager says it was unethical and questioned why—if public--  the source of tape was not included in the original article.
