Lawmakers have just a few days left to funnel hundreds of bills through one or both houses of the legislature.

This week the Governor has already signed several bills into law– including one that requires the state to track identity theft as part of crime statistics, and another that shields college newspapers from censorship.   Lawmakers have also sent him a bill that limits the sale of ultrasound machines to those trained to use them…that bill was inspired by actor Tom Cruise’s purchase of a machine.

Legislators and the administration are still grappling over a measure that would set a cap on greenhouse gas emissions…and over several bills designed to help alleviate prison overcrowding.  Also expected on the floor:  a bill allowing phone companies entrée into the cable TV market.
