State and Sacramento County authorities are investigating the abrupt shut down of Aquarius Pools during the past week. Aquarius has about 60 customers with unfinished pools in the Sacramento region. Investigators are working with pool industry officials to create a coalition of contractors to complete the unfinished work.
Aquarius could owe as much as $1.4 million to subcontractors. Many homeowners could face liens on their property from subcontractors who are awaiting payment for work on Aquarius projects.
Two years ago, Aquarius was the state’s eighth fastest-growing pool builders and the 35th-largest pool builder in the nation, with revenue of $9.7 million, according to Pool and Spa News. Now, authorities are trying to determine if the company’s sudden shut down is a criminal matter.
