The Westfield Corporation is proposing a specialty grocery store for the first floor of Downtown Plaza, similar to Whole Foods Market or Bristol Farms. Above it, they hope to have a Target store … and they have a letter of intent in hand from the national retailer.
Their plan also calls for relocating their theaters to the mall’s east end, at 7th and K Streets, nearly doubling the amount of seats. The theaters would go into a newly constructed third floor above the Hard Rock Café and Copeland Sports.
A spokesman for Westfield said they hold to get city approvals by year’s end, and begin the two-year construction project in 2007.
