The latest reports show campaign coffers of the two major candidates for Governor have shrunk, with millions spent on heavy advertising.  As for cash on hand, Governor Schwarzenegger has more than four million dollars while Democrat Phil Angelides has under a million.  Bob Stern with the Los Angeles-based Center for Governmental Studies says in this race, both must keep up the spending on television ads.

“Voters are very tired of elections we saw that with a very low turnout in June. It may be a very low turnout in November.  And the candidates have to hit the voters over the head with their messages to get them interested in the race…”

Stern says the fatigue factor comes at a time when voters need to pay attention… The November statewide ballot will be filled with more than a dozen measures, legislative races and other constitutional offices.
