A large and strong high pressure system over Northern California is blocking any kind of cooling we can expect from the coast.
George Klein with the National Weather Service in Sacramento says you should stay out of the afternoon heat and drink plenty of fluids.
"Keep hydrated, make sure you don’t keep any small children or pets or anything in cars and leave them there in parking lots at all of course, basically just slow down."
Saturday is expected to be the hottest day of the weekend…with a high of 109 in Downtown Sacramento. That would be a record-breaker. The previous record for Saturday's date is 105.
