Time is running out for an arena proposal to be on the November ballot. Former State Assemblyman Darrel Steinberg – who is representing team owners, the Maloof family – says the deadline is just around the corner.

"Everyone recognizes that for the County Board of Supervisors to consider this that there needs to be a public hearing sometime next week, probably next Tuesday, and that means there needs to be a resolution of this certainly by the end of the week, probably Thursday."

Steinberg says talks are progressing although several issues still need to be resolved. Under one scenario, residents would vote in November on a quarter-cent sales tax hike to help pay for the project which is estimated to cost about $500 million.
