Business Journal: Paul Mitchell Comes To Town

The Paul Mitchell company is creating two franchise colleges in the Sacramento area. The first just opened at MTI College, a private career-training school. The 2nd will open at the Howe Bout Arden shopping center in September. Each school is eventually expected to have about 200 students, paying tuition of $17,000 for the program. In California, a minimum of 1,600 hours of training is required. The Sacramento area already has at least 10 independent beauty schools, plus Sacramento City College’s program with 227 students. Still, it’s a field where there’s a shortage of workers … and new graduates typically have no problem finding a job.
