County Supervisor Roger Dickinson says they were not able to agree with the team on a number of issues, including the cost of the arena and how much the Kings’ owners would pay.
"It’s extremely disappointing. We’ve had very, very serious discussions over the past month and a half with the Maloofs. I think when we started these talks everyone was very optimistic that we could in fact strike a bargain."
The original plan was to put a measure on the November ballot that would have hiked the sales tax by a quarter-cent. Dickinson says talks will most likely resume in a few months.
