The survey from the American Electronics Association finds technology employment in Sacramento grew faster than any other city in the state. For the year 2004, the latest year numbers were available, Sacramento had more than 42 thousand high tech jobs -- a 3 percent increase over the year before. The Association’s Matthew Kazmierczak says there are two reasons.
People from the Bay Area finding Sacramento to be a much more affordable place to live, as well as tech companies that have moved up there for the same reason.
The report says Silicon Valley had the most high tech jobs, with Los Angeles coming in second. Sacramento was sixth on the list, behind the Bay Area, San Diego and Orange County.
