Sacramento County Supervisors Tuesday will consider a plan to send some juvenile hall inmates to Yolo County’s juvenile detention center in Woodland.

Suzanne Collins is with Sacramento’s Probation Department.

"We have continuously for many years have had overcrowded conditions at in juvenile hall the juvenile bed space has not grown incrementally with juvenile crime in Sacramento. The contract will work that we will guarantee that we will have 15 juveniles housed in Yolo County’s juvenile hall on a daily basis."

Under the proposed agreement, Sacramento’s Probation Department will pay Yolo County about $450,000 to house those 15 inmates and to bus them from Sacramento to Woodland.

Meantime, Sacramento’s probation department hopes to relieve the overcrowding with construction of a 90-bed addition to juvenile hall which is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
