The average price for gas in the Sacramento region right now is $3.15 a gallon for regular unleaded. A month ago, says Triple AAA, it reached a record high of $3.26 a gallon. That’s an 11-cent decline, very welcome by motorists at the start of the summer vacation season.
But a year ago, regular unleaded was just $2.27 a gallon in the Sacramento region. How does it affect people’s wallets. To fill up a compact car with a 12-gallon tank, before that trip to Tahoe or over to Napa, it’s an extra ten bucks compared to June 2005. Statewide, the average price for gas right now is about ten cents more than it is in Sacramento.
