The $7 million project connects Roseville’s water line with the Sacramento Suburban Water District. Derrick Whitehead – director of Roseville’s Environmental Utilities Department – says the pipeline will also help generate a little more income for the city because they’ll be able to treat water for nearby water agencies as well.

"In the spring and in the fall/winter, where we don’t utilize all of our treatment plant capacity, we would treat their water, wheel it through our system and they would forgo using ground water and use surface water that they have under contract and so that would allow them to increase reliability as well."

About 12,000 feet of pipeline will be installed adjacent to Atkinson, PFE and North Antelope Roads. And that may occasionally cause minor traffic delays. The work is expected to last through August.
