Sgt. 1st Class Isaac Lawson
A California National Guard soldier from Sacramento is one of the latest casualties of the Iraq war.
Sergeant 1st Class Isaac Shawn Lawson died Monday in Baghdad after a roadside bomb exploded near the Humvee he was riding in. The 35-year-old Lawson was assigned to the Guard’s 49th Military Police Brigade.
Captain Jonathan Shiroma who is with the Brigade in Baghdad says Lawson was very outgoing.
"He loved being with people, loved talking with them, loved being with soldiers, loved helping other younger soldiers learn what it’s like being a noncommissioned officer and was a mentor to many young men and women who are within our brigade."
Lawson is survived by his wife and three children. He was set to return home in September.
