Business Journal: Apple Hill A Model Of Success
The success of farmers in Apple Hill is being touted to other farmers throughout the Sierra.

In a series of nine meetings, the Sierra Business Council is encouraging farmers up and down the Sierra to band together for their own economic benefit. Apple Hill is the poster child for this. Started 42 years ago, visitors would go there in the fall to buy apples and cider. Today, 56 growers band together in their marketing … and some tourists stay overnight in the area. The season has been stretched, from flowers and berries in the spring right up to trees and wreaths at Christmas. While it’s been a success … and the apple, cider, and juice sales account for $4 million in revenue … the growers are tight-lipped about their total sales of all products.
