Turnout estimates range from 34 to 38 percent – and polls showed a quarter to a third of voters were undecided just days ago. That’s meant a furious effort by both State Treasurer Phil Angelides and State Controller Steve Westly to reach people in the waning days and hours of the campaign.
Westly voted this morning near his home in Atherton. He also visited with merchants in San Francisco, and stopped to chat with senior citizens in Oakland.
Angelides also spent the morning in San Francisco – and then voted in his hometown of Sacramento. His campaign says thousands of people statewide are organizing phone banks encouraging people to vote for the Treasurer.
Tonight, Angelides and his supporters will rally in Sacramento. Westly and his supporters will gather in Los Angeles.
