The Pharmaceutical Care Network has agreed to pay almost $800,000 in refunds and penalties. A federal lawsuit by the Department of Labor alleged that PCN pocketed rebates that should have gone to customers. 24 business clients will share the money. In the settlement, PCN does not admit any wrongdoing, according to its lawyer.
The federal complaint claimed that PCN at times negotiated a price with certain pharmacies … which would be lower than the price established with clients. It was alleged that PCN pocketed the difference and charged hidden transaction fees. PCN once was one of Sacramento’s fastest-growing companies … but has shrunken to about 70 employees.
