The school board Thursday night voted against discussing the issue. Which means the current policy – banning students who haven’t passed the test from wearing the cap and gown with their classmates – stays as is.
Maria Lopez with the district says the board sent a message with their decision.
"Walking across the stage is an important milestone and that they really do want to see students complete all of their requirements before that diploma is handed to them. We do plan on having a special ceremony for students who pass the high school exit exam after June."
The decision affects about 100 students out of a graduating class of around 2,400 seniors.
