The tax returns are in … and the Franchise Tax Board is out with a new report, ranking the many counties of California according to the median incomes.

One striking result: El Dorado and Placer counties are hot on the heels of the four Bay Area counties that lead the state. El Dorado County is fifth highest, with a median income of almost $43,000. Placer is 6th at $41,000. This is more than any other counties in the state other than Marin, San Mateo, Santa Clara and Contra Costa. It’s one more example of the very evident wealthy aggregating in the foothills near Sacramento.
