The Mayor’s Commission on Sacramento Youth says the city should create a one-stop application process by bringing together appropriate state and county agencies.
Commission chairman Jay Schenirer says the city should also be identifying pre-school sites in current buildings.
"We want to ensure that there are enough preschool facilities to house the kids and that will involve looking at existing buildings and where they can be utilized. We also want for those who are building facilities to have a fairly streamlined effort going through the city planning department."
Commission members also recommend the city adopt a resolution supporting Proposition 82 – the Pre-School For All Initiative.
The commission will present its policy recommendations at Tuesday night's city council meeting.
