The average residential customer would see a $4.19 rise in their monthly bill under a proposed rate hike. Vonette McCauley with Roseville Electric says the new rates will help offset rising energy costs.

"Energy prices have risen quite sharply over the past few months and actually the last year so between the rising energy costs and construction costs, it’s imperative that we move forward with an adjustment plan at this time."

Commercial customers would also see a rate hike of 5%.

The Roseville City Council is holding a public hearing on the proposed increases Wednesday at 7 PM.
