The Lennar Corporation plans to build about 450 new homes with photovoltaic roof tiles in West Roseville. The national homebuilder, which operates locally as Renaissance Homes and Winncrest Homes, says these houses would have half the energy needs of conventional housing. The biggest solar community at this time a 257-home development in Watsonville.
Photovoltaics add up to $25,000 to the base construction, but rebates and credits shave nearly $10,000 from that expense to the homeowner. Lennar believes these homes will have a edge in today’s competitive market.
