Sacramento County is among the fourteen to benefit from the two million dollar grant from the Hewlett Foundation. Sarah Anderberg, Director of the California County Superintendents Educational Services Association Arts Initiative says the grant will be used for many things, including re-educating administrators, teachers and school board members about the importance of arts in the schools:
What is a quality arts education? What do we really want kids to know and be able to do?
Anderberg says the state education code and the No Child Left Behind Act both call for visual, performing, dance and musical arts in schools.
