The American River Authority is meeting in Auburn to talk about becoming a local sponsor in financing an Auburn Dam.
"We’re just going to be hearing from various people that are experts in the field as to how we could go about doing it."
Chairman Bruce Kranz says it’s all preliminary because they’re still waiting for the results of feasibility study.
"We don’t know right now for instance how expensive an Auburn Dam will be."
Auburn Dam supporters say it would improve flood protection but opponents, like Terry Davis with the Sierra Club, say it would hurt the environment.
"It really defies rationality that public money would continue to be thrown at this. It provides flood control at such a cost to make it not cost effective."
Monday's meeting will be at the Placer County Administrative Offices in Auburn.
