West Sacramento Councilman Oscar Villegas – an honorary co-chair of the annual campaign – says interest is high this year. 

"And as you can imagine with gas prices as they are, we’re getting even more attention this year than ever before so each year it just continues to grow."

He says they expect about 3,000 people to participate. Throughout the month, people are encouraged to log their miles at www.bikecommutemonth.com.

The goal is for everyone to collectively bike 1 Million miles in May.
