If you think you’ve been seeing a lot more potholes on the road lately, you’re right, you have.

"Oh yeah, it’s not your imagination at all. Potholes are caused by excess water in the pavement among other things, but that’s the number one reason for potholes."

CalTrans spokesman Mark Dinger says continued bad weather is beating up the roads.

Rain and flooding this winter has caused $13 million in damage in Northern California alone. The statewide figure is $250 million.

Dinger says once the warmer weather comes, road crews will be busy for months fixing pot holes and cracks.
