The 45-member Engineer Brigade 40th Infantry Division will work with reconstruction teams in Iraq. Colonel Michael Herman heads the division.
"Everyone’s very upbeat and positive. We’re very confident in our training and we will actually be working with the US Army Corps of Engineers managing the reconstruction program that’s currently underway in Iraq."
Family and friends will say goodbye during a deployment ceremony Saturday afternoon at the armory on 58th and J Streets.
The division leaves for Fort Bliss - Texas on Sunday for more training and is scheduled to go to Iraq in mid-May.
