The Governor joined military and education leaders at the Capitol for a round-table talk on how to get more veterans to college.  The result:  A joint effort that could include more recruitment and college credit for time served.  Marine Corps Major General Mike Lehnert says the outreach is critical:

“Their calculus skills are maybe a little bit rusty but I’m here to tell you they’re smart, they’re tough, they’re mature, they’re exactly the kind of citizens that we want in this great state.”

Governor Schwarznegger says this is part of the state’s responsibility to the armed forces:

“We have to do everything we can to help those veterans.”:

According to the state, Roughly 60-thousand California veterans exit military service each year.
