The clarinetist you’re hearing is not a touring professional – although based on his playing, you might have made that assumption. His name is Randolph Palada, and he’s a senior at Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento. (music)

Palada is one of eight Mozart competition winners who will play on Sunday – the youngest is fourth-grade pianist Nicholas Brune.  While competitions can be stressful, 17-year-old soprano Lucy Fitz Gibbon says this one was special because of the encouragement and good advice she received from the judges.
