At about one o’clock Wednesdasy afternoon, the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department got the call about a small avalanche and that there was possibly a skier trapped inside.

But Deputy Mike Sukau says they didn’t find anyone after checked the area with canines and special probing equipment.

"There’s no clues that there’s anybody down in the avalanche area."

Sukau says back country slides occur at this time of year when conditions are warming up.

"We recommend that people really know what they’re doing and have the proper equipment and training before they go and venture into the back country."

The slide area was a half-mile east of the resort, just off Highway 50 between Twin Bridges and Kyburz.
