On the tape,  Hamid Hayat is questioned by federal agents in a session that went many hours last June…  Hayat appeared to squirm and fidget while answering questions—and he occasionally yawned.   His answers were at times vague and conflicting.  When asked who at the camp gave him orders to commit Jihad, or “holy war” he said no one gave him any. When asked whether he would get such orders in Lodi he responded quote “yeah, maybe”.

Hayat was characterized by his defense attorneys in opening statements as telling wild tales, while prosecutors say he had intentions of performing acts of terror in the United States. Hayat faces three counts of lying to federal authorities and one count of providing material support to terrorists.
