The new Prosperity Index finds Salt Lake City and the Bay Area have the most pluses when it comes to economic allure and business expansion … but Sacramento ranks 5th out of the 12 cities ranked. The Sacramento Regional Research Institute created the index, which will measure change going forward.
Sacramento’s strengths include its people, which embraces an educated workforce, household income and population growth. But Sacramento lags on indicators like air quality, commute time and housing affordability. Other cities in the index include Portland, the other major California metro areas, and several cities outside the state that are often competing with Sacramento for business relocation.
