Restaurateur Randy Paragary is looking at creating the assessment district, which would ad a three percent fee to the bills of people eating at participating restaurants.
The concept is still tentative, and the handful of restaurants that may join four in the area owned by Paragary, are just finding out about it. B Street expects to get a new theater space as part of the expansion of the Sutter General Hospital complex along Twenty Eighth Street. But the theater company will have to come up with twenty million dollars to open in its new space.
Whether the restaurant food assessment is voted in, or not, is still up in the air.
