21 puppies to be exact. Spokeswoman Chris Andis says the 8-to-12 week-old puppies are the product of un-wanted Christmas gifts or left-over inventory from back-yard breeders looking for extra holiday cash.
"We do get puppies quite often but 21 at one time is pretty unusual. Right now there are Pit Bull mixes, Rottweiler mixes, Sheppard mixes and a few different various breeds."
Shelter staff is working to find good homes for the puppies and they’ll be open this Sunday from 11 AM to 4 PM to allow more people to view the animals.
The shelter is on Bradshaw Road near Kiefer Boulevard.
